Ashton Turner

Ashton Turner

An allrounder picked as Australia’s leading spinner in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup, it was Ashton Turner’s match-winning blitzkrieg of 83 not out off 43 balls in an ODI against India in 2019 which saw him gain global recognition. In his early days, the lanky western Australian had been in the UK on a Hampshire scholarship and he returned to the Warriors the following summer in good form, playing five Marsh Shield matches as WA made the final. He was one of the better players at the National Performance Squad in the 2014 winter series, displaying consistency with scores of 73, 59 and 41. The leader in Turner was tested on many occasions when he filled in as captain of the Perth Scorchers and Western Australia. His good form for the Scorchers saw him picked to play Sri Lanka in the T20 series in February 2017. In December 2018, Turner was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the player auction.

Turner first rose to international prominence when he smashed 84 off 43 against India to chase down a record target of 359.
